Connect your WhatsApp Business account

Connect a Meta Business account, add a phone number as a sender, and get its display name approved.

To send WhatsApp messages from your own business name, you connect a Meta Business account to FortWave and add a phone number to it as a sender. Meta runs the sign-up and verification; FortWave guides you through it.

Connect a Meta Business account

  1. In the sidebar, under WhatsApp, open Management → Accounts.
  2. Select Add a Meta Business Account.
  3. Choose Create a new account and fill in your business Name, Email, Website and Country, or choose Use an existing account if you already have one.
  4. A Meta window opens. Sign in with Facebook and follow Meta's steps to finish connecting the account.

The account then appears in your list with its Meta status, for example Pending, Verified or Approved.

Add a sender

A sender is a phone number that sends and receives WhatsApp messages for your business.

  1. Open the account and select New sender.
  2. Enter the display name customers will see (3 to 25 characters) and the phone number in international format.
  3. Complete the business profile: a business category is required; the description, address, email, website and profile picture are optional but help customers trust you.

Display name review

Meta reviews every display name. While it is Pending review, a connected number can already send messages. If the name is Declined, change it to match your business name more closely. Meta limits how often you can change a display name, and frequent changes can look like spam.

Number status and quality

  • Connected numbers can send. Flagged, Restricted or Rate limited numbers are being limited by Meta, usually because of customer complaints.
  • The messaging tier is how many different customers you can message in a day. It grows as you send good-quality messages.
  • The quality rating (High, Medium or Low) reflects how customers react to your messages. Send only messages customers expect to keep it high.

Next: create your first message template and set up your WhatsApp wallet. Before your first message, you must also invite finance@fortwave.io to your Meta business portfolio so FortWave can bill your messages; the wallet article shows how.
