SMS, WhatsApp, or both?
The two channels are independent. Use one, the other or both from the same account, each with its own setup and credit.
FortWave offers two channels, SMS and WhatsApp Business. They are completely independent: you can use only SMS, only WhatsApp, or both from the same account. Setting up one never requires the other.
What each channel needs
- SMS: an approved company, an approved sender ID and SMS credits.
- WhatsApp: a connected Meta Business account and phone number, approved message templates and a WhatsApp wallet with credit.
Which one should I use?
- SMS reaches every mobile phone, with or without internet or a smartphone. It suits one-time codes, alerts and reminders that must arrive everywhere.
- WhatsApp supports images, documents, buttons and two-way conversations, and shows your verified business name. It suits customer service, receipts and rich promotions for customers who use WhatsApp.
Many businesses start with one channel and add the other later. Each channel has its own section in the dashboard sidebar, so you only see what you use. Compare the rates on the pricing page.
